Website Reviews

1. Ryan Edy
  • He is always moving around to be shooting at different places, not really hanging out at home.
  • Three things I like is how unique his page is. When you first go to his web page it opens up to a random picture with his name on it and and in order to see anything else you have to click anywhere. Also I like how simple it is laid out, nothing crazy. And I also like how most of the pictures he has on his home page are pretty similar in the fact that they all have good blurry backgrounds with a subject in sharp focus.
  • Three things I don’t like are that when you click on his “work” page it has the exact same pictures his home screen had on it as well. It’d be better if he had more on his “work” page. Also I don’t like there not being a link at the top that just takes you home. I also don’t like not being able to think of anything else I don’t like because his website is so good.
  • There are four drop downs on the site.
  • He has 58 photos on his website.

2. Dave Hill
  • I like how the subjects names are on the side of the page and easily accessible. I like the design of the website based on the color white. I also like how the font that he used.
  • Things I don’t like are the amount of shoots he has. I wish he had more. I also don’t really like how small each picture is and I’m also not a fan of how the layout looks like when it’s only on one picture.
  • 25 tabs
  • Too many to count, about 400.

3. Jan Erik Waider
  • I like the top of the website with the cool layout of his favorite/most impressive shoots. I also like the modern overall look of the whole website. I also love landscape photos as well which is his entire site.
  • Even though i like the modern look of his website, there is too much on just the home screen that is all different. It needs to be split up. Also even though they all have cool designs each part has a different design. I would want it to all be the same across the whole website.

  • About 175 photos

4. Piotr Kulczycki
  • I really like the animations of everything on the entire website. It looks amazing, no other website looks the same. I also like the layout of the website and i really like the grey color on the whole website.
  • There is actually too many galleries I think on this, 144 of them.
  • 5 tabs
  • 5221 pictures (144 galleries)

5. Timothy Hogan
  • I like how his website is unique. He has the tabs on the right instead of the left or the top. I also like his electronics/design photos because they are really good and are the style that I like.
  • I don’t really like how he hardly has any shots at all on his website. Also I don’t like how you view individual pictures. As well as once you are looking at a single picture you must go back to the homepage in order to go back to the picture album.
  • 11 tabs
  • 24 different shoots and various amounts of photos in each

6. Erik Almas
  • I like how the main page is one giant picture that fades from picture to picture. I also like the logo that they use and lay on top of the homepage. I also love how every picture used on his homepage are super detailed and look so good.
  • I don’t like the tab bar on the side it seems really cluttered to me. I think for the text to be as small as it is it needs to be darker otherwise it just doesn’t seem to contrast as much. I also don’t really like his overview, the pictures are too small to see really well.
  • 23 tabs
  • 20 different photoshoot categories so a lot of pictures to count.

7. Steve McCurry
  • I like his style of photos and how they are quite large when you first enter the website. I like the dark theme on his website with the yellow text.I also like how his photoshoots are quite organized
  • I don’t like how small the text is on the website. I also don’t like how cluttered the information on the bottom of the homepage is along with that I don’t like how he uses three different fonts on his webpage.
  • 8 tabs
  • 39 different photoshoots

8. Erik Ryan Anderson
  • I really like the intro of his website where it shows his name only until you click anywhere on the screen. I also like his style of photography as well as that all of his images are on the homescreen.
  • Although at the same time I don’t like that every single picture is on the homescreen, I wish it was his best on the home screen and the rest on another page. I don’t like how when it displays his name it is on top of a low quality black and white video in the background instead of pictures that look super nice. I also wish he had more pictures.

9. Peter Hurley
  • I really like how is name is big and bold. I also really like the light website design. Also I like how his pictures aren’t too small that are on the homescreen.
  • I don’t like how ⅔ of the home screen has pictures on the other ⅓ is only filled with some stuff all the way down causing a weird split effect.
  • 8 tabs
  • Only 8 shoots but quite a few pictures in each
10. Michael Kenna
  • I like the light theme of the website and I really like how her tabs are all set up. I also like how all of her pictures are black and white so the website looks good with all of the pictures the same style.
  • I don’t like how tiny the pictures are on the webpage and I don’t really like what kind of font she uses, or how small the text is.
  • 10 tabs
  • 46 pictures
11. Eli Lisa Bettany
  • I really like how the website is laid out with very small bezels between each of the pictures. Also the text isn’t too small or too light. And all of her photos fit together really well because they are all landscape pictures even if there is people in them or some other subject they all have really cool landscapes.
  • I don’t like how when you click the about page it takes you to a completely separate website about her instead of just a sub page. It also does the same thing if click her name at the top which would normally just go back to the home page but for some reason they are linked to another website of hers. And most of her photos are a good size but some of them are really small and it is hard to see what they are.
  • 6 tabs
  • 500+ pictures
12. Daniel Kennedy
  • I like how clean the website looks not very cluttered. I also like the font he used for his website. Another thing is that he only has 4 tabs so it’s not crazy like some other websites where there is like 8.
  • It’s kind of weird how the homepage is the exact same as the portrait page. I don’t like how there is hardly any text on the website, like the about him is only one sentence. I also don’t like how it isn’t really split up into shoots, I think it is too general of categories.

Photography Essay

SAM KOLDER           The photographer who inspired me the most this 6 weeks is Sam Kolder. Sam mainly takes adventure pictures and videos. He is a huge role model because I love the places he goes and the way he color grades his photos and videos. His style is quite unique and the places he goes in themselves are already super interesting.          He tends to color his photos brightly with what is becoming more and more common, the teal and orange effect. He is always traveling and always going to the coolest places. I have discovered many other photographers/filmmakers such as Gabriel Conte, and Taylor Cut that have worked with Sam that all have similar photos that all look amazing. On his video side he not only takes amazing video and color grades it well, but the way that he shoots and edits all of it together is just so cool.         All of his photos and videos are really inspiring as well. A lot of the...

Assignment #1 - Longboarding Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCPUuBB6gmA I think it turned out really good, even though we filmed it in a neighborhood, that was really the best and safest location to do repeatable shots while also filming while hanging outside and sitting on top of a Jeep to get moving shots. It also fit really well with the music
